|Job Title||Facilities Design Architect/Project Manager|
|Job Description||Purpose: To provide architectural planning, design and construction administration services for our Facilities Engineering and Construction Dept. Also provide administration of consultant teams providing design services.
Responsibilities: Develop conceptual design and space planning drawings. Develop construction documents and specifications in compliance with applicable codes, local regulations and customer needs. Prepare project statements of work (SOW), rough order of magnitude (ROM) cost estimates, interface and coordinate work with other disciplines and other departments. Process plans through city plan check, and interface with design consultants. Also interface with contractors during the construction phase of the project. Process contractor submittals and as-built drawings during project execution and at project “as-built” completion. Coordinate and review work of A&E consultants. Provide project planning and design leadership from inception to construction completion. Conduct job orientation meetings on site with consulting A&E teams. Participate in design problem resolution, coordination meeting with customers and others involved.
Education and Certifications: Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in an accredited Architectural program. Should have complete familiarity with design and engineering practices generally existing in the industry. An active California Architectural Professional license in good standing desirable but not required.
Experience: 10 or more years of progressively responsible experience in the field of architecture. Experience in facilities environment is desirable IE: commercial office, computer facility, R&D labs, etc. Must have current working knowledge of codes and standards. Familiar with California building, mechanical, plumbing and fire codes. Experience conducting field construction observation and reports. Proven ability to manage project scopes, schedules and budgets. Proven ability to manage consulting engineering teams. Must have extensive knowledge of computer programs such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PPT) and AutoCAD (REVIT is a plus). Proficiency in working with electronic files and filing systems in a PC network environment. Must be versatile to work well in both a team environment and independently with the ability to organize and prioritize all work to meet specific deadlines with minimal supervision. Extensive experience in space planning, office renovation, SCIF facilities, conference centers, laboratory and data center design and construction is preferred. Must be self-motivated. Good oral and written communication skills are essential.
